Together with another
Interactive Installation, 2016
Together with Another is a projection based interactive installation that depict the complexities of one on one relationship through the consciously changed uncertain embodiment. It physically separates multiple users on its two sides, the users on each side will be assigned different roles and painted either black or white onto the canvas, at the instant they are captured by the sensors. Their movement will be visualized and projected on the canvas.
How will people perform when they can consciously feel and change the relationship within each other with the sensation of their embodiment?
An installation that separates multiple users on its two sides, by capturing the real-time data and painting either black or white silhouettes onto the canvas, to depict the relationship of containment and balance, chase and capture, domination and submission through the visualization of silhouette interaction.
"When you’re a child you learn there are three dimensions
Height, width and depth
Like a shoebox
Then later you hear
there’s a fourth dimension
Then some say there can be five, six, seven…"
----"Another One" from movie "Paterson"
Together with Another is an 8*6 meter installation, using silk-screen frames dividing a physical space into two parts. Two Kinects placed at both sides of the frames to capture the real-time data which will be visualized and projected by a short ratio projector on to the frames.
The users on each side will be assigned different roles and painted either black or white onto the canvas, express the concept of positive and negative. When people move around at both sides, their profiles appear and disappear, get larger or smaller, become more distinct or less precise, overlap on each other or erase each other.
